Job Description: Breakfast Club Africa is looking for a part-time CFO to support its pan-African expansion. The key roles are to support the C-Suite in financial strategy, modelling, capital-raising, and budgeting. You will work alongside other C-Suite team members and take ownership of all company fiscal and regulatory matters. To do well in this role you should have experience as a CFO in a company with complex financials and an extensive balance sheet. Experience in designing attractive share options and managing cap tables for investors and staff incentives is a priority. Equity will become available after a period of service, for the right candidate. African experience is a benefit but not necessary.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of the Chief Finance Officer includes but not limited to the following;
Create a financial model for the organization.
Assist with high-level decisions about policy and strategy.
Control and enhance the organization’s fundraising plans and capital structure
Oversee the company’s fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting, and auditing.
Assure legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.
Identify and address financial risks and opportunities for the company.
Supervise financial reporting and budgeting team activities.
Reports to the CEO and to the Board.
Review financial reports for ways to reduce costs.
Work well with the management team and the Board to develop and implement the strategic plan.
Decide on investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks
Help with recruiting new staff members when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; Master’s degree in Financial discipline or MBA a plus.
CPA or equivalent international certification preferred.
Experience in a senior management position with P&L responsibility.
Strong financial and accounting background, including an understanding of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow management and general finance and budgeting.
Experience with corporate governance and proven negotiation skills.
Background coordinating with IT staff to manage and/or upgrade the accounting system.
Ability to understand new issues quickly and make wise decisions.
Ability to inspire confidence and create trust.
Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively and delegate.
Ability to work remotely.
Experience with capital-raising and structuring
Experience with budget management, public accounting, and cash flow.
